Bill Hinkley was a professional bluegrass banjo, mandolinist, singer, entertainer, and teacher for more than 45 years. A member of the enigmatic roots group The Sorry Muthas, Bill’s Minneapolis musical profile grew in the early 1970s. In partnership with his wife Judy Larson, he was a regular performer on the Minnesota Public Radio program A Prairie Home Companion during the first two years of broadcast in the mid-1970s. He had a steady and strong influence on the folk and bluegrass music scene in the Twin Cities for decades.
