Billy Steiner
Inducted 2002
Co-founder of Mankato, Minnesota’s “Good Time” rock and roll band City Mouse, Billy Steiner has led the band since 1971. Performances ranged from nightclubs and colleges to honkytonks and weddings, christenings and funerals to singing the National Anthem at a couple of Minnesota Timberwolves’ basketball games. City Mouse has developed a unique bond with the Mankato Symphony, and together they have performed before thousands of appreciative listeners at “Rockin’ In Quarry”, an annual duo-performance in Mankato. Winner of the prestigious Minnesota Music Award for Harmonica in 1989, Steiner’s harmonica can be heard on many radio and TV commercials and soundtracks, as well as on recording projects with a variety of musical artists. He is also a member of The Lost Walleye Orchestra, an off-shoot musical endeavor of City Mouse.
