Dr. Frank Bencriscutto

“Dr. Ben” was Director of Bands at the University of Minnesota for 30 years. He was a saxophone soloist, composer, clinician, and Guest Conductor. His honors include The Neil A. Kjos Memorial Award for The Most Significant Contribution To
Band Literature with his composition for chorus and band, “Sing a New Song.” Dr.
Ben published a book titled Total Musicianship, which contains written music for Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and individual study suitable for seventh grade through high school players. He conducted the principal Concert Band of the University of Minnesota on tours to China and the Soviet Union.
