Leo “Pinky” Schroepfer

Leo “Pinky” Schroepfer was a composer, arranger, director, and accomplished clarinetist. For 25 years, he was the director
of the State champion Sleepy Eye Drum and Bugle Corps. Under his direction, the Corps
placed first in state competition from 1947 to 1959. Pinky arranged and composed music, and designed the choreography for the Corps. The U.S. Army Band in WWII extensively played one of the Schroepfer’s marches, “Jubilesta”, which was published in 1941. He has also composed polkas and laendlers for dance bands. The Whoopee
John Orchestra recorded several of his tunes. Schroepfer was a member of the Whoopee John Band in the 1920’s, then known as The Hans Wilfahrt’s Concertina Orchester.
