Marvin Rainwater
(1925-2013)
Inducted 2004
Conventional Country musician Marvin Rainwater’s career rose on the launching pad of Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts television show in 1955. Born in Kansas and then settling in Minnesota for most of his career, he was a songwriter, vocalist, guitar player, and piano player. Rainwater was a big man with the craggy good looks of his Cherokee ancestors. His songs ranged from lusty to just plain touching. A veteran in the entertainment field, from honky-tonk bars, television, and to The London Palladium, Marvin’s career gave him a backlog of stories and anecdotes that were highly entertaining.
