The Trashmen
Inducted 2005
The Trashmen was a rock and roll band formed in Minneapolis in 1962. The group’s lineup was Tony Andreason- lead guitar; Dal Winslow- guitar and vocals; Steve Wahrer- drums and vocals; and Bob Reed- bass guitar. In 1963 they recorded “Surfin’ Bird” which soared to #4 on the Billboard charts nationally, and became an international smash. The only records topping the Trashmen that year were those by the Beatles. The Trashmen are revered by 60’s collectors as one of the great American teen-band combos of all-time, exemplifying wild, unabashed rock & roll at its most demented, barebones-basic, and lone –E-chord finest.
