His take on Roger Miller\u2019s &#8220;King of the Road&#8221; earned him a few cherry Cokes as he stood on top of the juke box singing along. Sterling\u2019s affinity for Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, and others became the pillars of his performing &amp; songwriting choices as he began his professional career in 1980. After returning to Minneapolis from playing with a band from St. Louis, he married his junior high school sweetheart Kristi. They have two children and live in Crystal, Minnesota. Sterling was asked to join his old band-mates in a project that needed his lead vocals. That band turned out to be Mick Sterling and The Stud Brothers, who for 17 years blew away audiences with a powerful and rocking show.
