Dennis Spears was born in Ohio but grew up on a farm with his grandparents in Louisiana. His grandparents were heavily involved in their church, so Dennis was singing in the church choir at a very young age. After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern University, Spears moved to Minneapolis in 1981 and worked for the Northwestern National Insurance Company, but knew he was born to entertain. In 1986 he joined the critically-acclaimed jazz vocal group Moore by Four. After seven years with the group, he decided to also go solo. In 1990 Spears was named Best Jazz Male Vocalist at the Minnesota Jazz Awards. He is one of the best entertainers in Minnesota and his renown is growing!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
