Conventional Country musician Marvin Rainwater\u2019s career rose on the launching pad of Arthur Godfrey\u2019s Talent Scouts<\/em> television show in 1955. Born in Kansas and then settling in Minnesota for most of his career, he was a songwriter, vocalist, guitar player, and piano player. Rainwater was a big man with the craggy good looks of his Cherokee ancestors. His songs ranged from lusty to just plain touching.
