He was a saxophone soloist, composer, clinician, and Guest Conductor. His honors include The Neil A. Kjos Memorial Award for The Most Significant Contribution To<br \/>\nBand Literature with his composition for chorus and band, \u201cSing a New Song.\u201d Dr.<br \/>\nBen published a book titled <em>Total Musicianship<\/em>, which contains written music for Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and individual study suitable for seventh grade through high school players.
